Snubbing

Snubbing is a process of performing heavy well intervention operations in a well by inserting tools when the back pressure or kick is being examined. It can be done in an existing well or in new well without the removal of the blowout preventer from the wellhead. Snubbing can only be carried out in a live well, i.e., when a well is not killed and is still under pressure.

SGM Oilfield Services is ready to provide equipment and experienced staff for the Snubbing operations.
Snubbing unit will be provided as per client’s request.

Well Hot Tap

Hot-tapping Process The tubular is nippled up to using either a saddle (tubulars) or welded connection (for low pressure). The system is filled with cutting fluid & pressure tested. The cutting bit is advanced and the wall is breached. Once a pressure change on the pressure gauge is witnessed, the cutting bit is reversed back into the hot-tapping housing and the isolating valve is closed. The operating or third-party company can then nipple up to valve & bleed off pressure or bull-head to re-gain pressure control through a fluid barrier.

Well Freeze

Freeze services are used for the creating a temporary barrier (ice plug) in order to maintain pressure control which is allowed safe mechanical repairs.
SGM Oilfield Services supplies with the freezing technology which is using Liquid Nitrogen together with special temperature monitors. Thereby costly fluid kills are eliminated and minimizing downtime.
With sufficient supplying Nitrogen and the proper monitoring freeze process accurately in real time, freeze plugs can be installed and maintained indefinitely in a safe and controlled condition.

Well Freeze

Freezing Process The tubular or component is either wrapped with copper coil or a freeze cannister/jacket is installed. LN2 gas is then fed into the freezing system with the phase change in the LN2 permeates a temperature drop to the wrapped tubular or component, freezing the internal liquid. The formed internal ice plug, can then be pressure tested to confirm the integrity, allowing safe work to begin. After work is complete the ice plug is then thawed slowly, and normal operations can continue.
